The Founder

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign Nigeria (TMDCN) is a registered charity organization with operational headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. The organization was established in 2019 by Obianuju Chiamaka Amamgbo who was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy at a young age of four. The motivation to start the charity was due to her personal experiences while growing up in Nigeria as against her experiences and support in England. With the daily challenges, the lack of support and awareness in Nigeria and the stigma attached to disability, she reckons that the charity will go a long way in making a huge difference for people affected by the condition and their families.

Obianuju Chiamaka Amamgbo is the third child of Late Sir Godson N. Amamgbo (Bishop), and Lady (Dr) Lilian Amamgbo. She grew up in a close-knit family with her other five siblings in Abia state where she obtained primary and secondary education. The love, support and encouragement of her family helped to shape her personality.

Obianuju holds BA in Linguistics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and M.Sc in Management of Information Technology from the University of Nottingham (UoN). She is an author and enjoys watching sports like football, tennis, athletics as her pastime. She is also a published author of 2 novels
