In September 2021, the muscular dystrophy campaign Nigeria donated brand new laptop and printer to MD patient, Onyinyechukwu Nnam, to support her business idea.

The charity worked with her from when she first interacted with us. At this point, Onyinye has lost hope and unsure how to navigate the difficult tarrain of life with muscular dystrophy. Through our services, she was motivated and inspired to keep going.  We had work-focused reviews, CV support, and support to acquire relevant knowledge (online) to help with her business idea. We considered different options to secure realistic jobs in teaching, administration, events management etc. After exploring all possible options, Onyinye opted to start her own business to enable her to manage and cope with her health. Due to limited funds, she decided to start mobile recharge card business. We helped her to develop a viable business plan, and thereafter procured the laptop and printer she required to get the business off the ground.

Upon starting her mobile recharge business, Onyinyechukwu has supported herself financially, even though it doesn’t pay for her personal care need, which she desperately needs. She recently informed the charity of how she used the proceeds from her business to finance her own surgery in September 2024. The charity hopes to provide additional funds to support her business to enable her to continue trading.
